 Hello, my name is Risa Murray I am a Black American painter who is a native of Colorado and resides in the city of Aurora.  At an early age, I was exposed to painting when my mother Lavonne brought me my first paint by numbers kit, and from that moment on it has been history in the making. I love painting everyday scenes of people and family.  I have loved working on community projects in the Five Points area.  I lived several years in the Whittier neighborhood and saw a lot of changes in the community.  Through these experiences, I have had the vision to have a gallery and art studio space to teach art classes in the community in which I live and work.  In my "Textures" exhibition I experimented with many different mediums to create pieces with different kinds of textures.  God inspires me to create images of family the experiences, and feelings of these moments in time.
